Walter Franklin provided for the expansion of the University of Colorado football team. He directed CU’s entry in the Big Seven and was a guarding force in the construction of Folsom Field.
Franklin was a four-sport letterman at CU and received All-Conference football honors in 1921.
In 1934, he was a graduate manager and acted as one of the judges in the contest to find an official mascot for the school—”Buffaloes” was the winning entry.
