Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Honors Miller, Simpson, Coburn, MacIntyre

DENVER -- Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller from the Denver Broncos, Olympic track bronze medalists Jenny Simpson and Emma Coburn, and University of Colorado football coach Mike MacIntyre will be among those honored at the 53rd annual Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 27, at the Denver Marriott City Center.

At a meeting on Tuesday, the Selection Committee of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame named Miller the Male Athlete of the Year for 2016 and Simpson and Coburn the co-Female Athletes of the Year. MacIntyre, the near-unanimous national college football coach of the year who led CU to its first winning record in more than a decade, was selected King of the Hill. The Selection Committee also picked Colorado collegiate standouts Justin Dvorak (Colorado School of Mines football) and Ellen Nystrom (Colorado State basketball), along with high school honorees Dylan McCaffrey (Valor Christian football) and Brie Oakley (Grandview runner) as athletes of the year. Joy Rondeau (Nordic skier from Granby) is the recipient of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame’s 2016 Athlete with Disabilities Award.

DENVER — For the 12th consecutive year, Sports Authority Field at Mile High will host the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) 4A and 5A football championship games, presented by The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in partnership with CHSAA and the Denver Broncos, on Saturday.

“Championship Saturday XII” will begin with Broomfield High School against Pine Creek High School in the 4A championship game at 11 a.m.

Bailey, Bichette & Bloom Headline Class of 2017

DENVER - Led by Champ Bailey, Dante Bichette and Jeremy Bloom, the selection Committee of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame voted six individuals to be inducted at the 53rd annual banquet April 27, at the Denver Marriott City Center.

Joining Bailey of the Denver Broncos, Bichette of the Colorado Rockies and multi-sport athlete Jeremy Bloom of the University of Colorado at Boulder as April inductees are Hashim Kahn, Maurice “Stringy” Ervin and John Wooten when the Class of 2017 was selected today. The selection committee will pick the 2016 Athletes-of-the-Year at a January 2017 meeting as the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame recognizes collegiate, high school, Olympic/Pro athletes at the Denver Marriott City Center banquet.

The donations are being made in partnership with CSHOF sponsors Gatorade, King Soopers/City Market, Denver Broncos Football Club, Sports Authority, Wells Fargo, Century Link, and El Pomar Foundation.

DENVER—Colorado Rockies Third Baseman Nolan Arenado and Stanford University Running Back Christian McCaffrey have been selected as the Professional and Amateur Athletes of the Year respectively for the 2015 calendar year. Both will be honored as part of the 52nd annual Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 19, at the Denver Marriott City Center.

COLORADO SPORTS HALL OF FAME TO INDUCT SIX

Castilla, Hejduk & Simpson Headline Class of 2016

 

DENVER, COLO. - Led by professional standouts Vinny Castilla, Milan Hejduk and Ralph Simpson, the selection Committee of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame voted six individuals to be inducted at the 52nd annual banquet April 19, 2016 at the Denver Marriott City Center.

  DENVER – The eleventh annual Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Golf Classic held on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at The Broadmoor East Golf Course in Colorado Springs, raised over $65,000 for the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Museum and its youth sports programs partners like the Colorado Junior Golf Association, Colorado Golf Foundation, Sportswomen of Colorado, Special Olympics, and National Sports Center for the Disabled.  A full list of the youth sports organizations that the CSHOF has supported is located on its website, www.coloradosports.org
